Composed of sealing posts and plates, the fences made of prefabricated elements are very often made of concrete.
Determine the position of the fence using a line and two stakes. Warning: your fence must be on your land, as well as its foundations; it’s the law!
After deciding the layout, mark the position of the fence posts.
Make the foundation of each pole by digging holes of 40 cm x 40 cm, at a depth of at least equivalent to 1/3 of the height of the pole. That is about 60 cm for a fence height of 2 m. WARNING: make deeper holes if your fence is exposed to the wind.
Each pole must be sealed with 250 kg/m3 concrete.
Seal the first post and align it with the line. Adjust its plumbness and height.
Position the first plate horizontally. If necessary, adjust the height so that, for aesthetic reasons, the top plate aligns with the top of the post.
Vertically seal the second post against the plate.
If necessary, correct the plumb with wooden blocks
Adjust the height of the second post relative to the first.
Proceed in the same way for the other posts.
The last module is often a cross-section.
This type of plate is cut with a circular blade used for materials (preferably a diamond disk!)
Insert the plate into the last post that you have previously aligned on the line. Check the plumbness of the assembly as well as the height.
Tip: If the last module is too small, trim the last 2 modules in order to have a aesthetically result.
Wait a few days, so that the concrete is dry, before placing the top plates.
Slope. If necessary, start the installation with the highest point by laying the first 2 posts and the first plate…
…then, measure the total elevation of the fence. Make sure that each pole is positioned with the height difference h at each of the posts. It’s advisable to extend horizontally from the lowest pole.
Tip: Lower each post for aesthetic reasons and so that the difference in levels is constant between each panel. This h height is equal to the total d height of the height difference divided by the number of modules. Example for 3 modules: h = d/2
Fill along the fence.
Depending on the manufacturer, the finish can be made with hats placed on each top plate. In this case, think of a greater edge at each post.
